Artikel der Marke Herdade do Arrepiado Velho
Sousel, about 40 km from Portalegre, in the Alto Alentejo, saw the birth of a long abandoned space. The 17th century Alentejo mountain The 19th century was built according to the traditional architecture of the region, magnificently preserved, full of spaces of rare beauty.
With a total area of about 100 hectares, the dam stands out among vineyards and olive groves, in a mixture of colors and tranquility, as only the Alentejo offers. The combination of these characteristics makes the Herdade do Rejoice Velho integrate the São Mamede Route - one of the three routes of the alentejo wine route.
It was the year 2002 when the 33 hectares of vineyards were planted from the ground in a terroir that combines, in a rare way, schist soil with steep slopes with mild temperatures and plenty of water, natural characteristics indicative of great potential. David Both (winegrower) and António Maçanita (oenologist) joined their knowledge, innovation and dedication, selected the grape varieties and created the already called "Vine of the 100 points". From 2012, the vineyard will be replaced by Nuno Ramalho, the current winemaker. Although there is already a project for a new wine cellar, the existing one is equipped with the most advanced technology available and properly sized for the production of unique and seductive wines, which are born from modern oenology combined sublime with tradition .
"Requirement, rigor and quality" are the slogans.
