<p></p><p>The story of Henriques &amp; Henriques, founded by João Gonçalves Henriques, dates back to 1850. After his death in 1912, a partnership was established between his two sons, Francisco Eduardo and Joaquim Henriques, which gave rise to the name Henriques &amp; Henriques .<br />From the earliest times, Henriques &amp; Henriques occupied a prominent place in viticulture and the art of making wine. In 1913 the family interests were constituted in a company of the family that, in 1925, began its activity like exporter of its wines to the detriment of the local supply to other exporters</p>

Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. <p></p><p>This Sercial of 1978 was aged by the method of "Canteiro" in old casks of French Carvalho since February of 1979. In February of 2008 I transferred the wine to bottles of 60 liters where it has maintained until today. In this way it was possible to control the rapid concentration that this wine recorded, while it was in the process of aging in the pipes during 29 years, maintaining the balance between the sweetness and the acidity that I believe to be the ideal in this wine.</p>

<p></p><p>H.M.Borges was founded in 1877 by Henrique Menezes Borges, who dedicated his whole life to search for a selection of wines produced in Madeira Island, in order to proceed to their aging. It is currently run by the fourth generation of his family.</p>

<p></p> <p>Vinho da corda was one of the ways in which "liqueurs" were prepared before the arrival of brandy in the mid-17th century. The vines, once planted closer to the sea, were able to reach other degrees of ripeness, allowing for a naturally concentrated must. The technique consisted of first separating the flor wine, which was clearer and fresher, and then, from the last pressing, removing the "vinho da corda" with a more golden and loaded appearance, so fashionable at the time. This Vinho da Corda comes from the sunny vineyards of Porto Santo and shows the island's potential for these rich, authentic and naturally oxidative wines</p>
